GlobalTop - A Case Study Synopsis
Background
Canaport LNG (CLNG) is a new billion dollar LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) re-gasification facility in Atlantic Canada. In advanced preparation to receive the first ever delivery of LNG during the summer of 2009 they were required to comply with a number of local, provincial and federal public safety and security requirements. Part of these requirements included the testing and evaluation of their emergency management program. The emergency management program was developed around an emergency management standard (Z1600) taking into account energy industry best practices. Multiple regulators. Six weeks. Three exercises. One satisfied customer.
“GlobalTop was extremely user friendly and visually stimulating” said Sandy Mackley the TRT (Tactical Response Team) leader. “Some of the scenarios and injects included simulated events which made for a more interesting exercise. When we responded to the scenarios the information we provided was immediately posted to GlobalTop for everyone to see, this added an element of stress which in my opinion is required in these exercises. In my previous experience table top exercises have required teams to push written paper responses around a table which is monotonous. All in all we all were very pleased with GlobalTop and hope that our company use the application again in the future.”
